About Us

What we’re all about

Vic High was founded in 1876, and is the oldest public high school west of Manitoba and north of San Francisco.

Members of the Vic High Alumni Association graduated from this very special place with great memories, great friendships and great hopes for the future. Now they show their appreciation by donating their time to support current students.

Our volunteers raise funds for student excellence awards, scholarships, and bursaries, and for school amenities. We fund and manage the Vic High Archives and Museum to preserve Vic High history, and we connect alumni with Vic High and each other through this website and regular newsletters. Volunteers also organize and support class reunions and major  events.

All former Vic High students and current and former staff can belong to the Victoria High School Alumni Association. Membership is free, so if you went to Vic High, or if you work there now or did in the past,  there’s no reason not to join!

We help alumni

  • Maintain alumni records and this website so we can all stay connected and informed.  Find Alumni   Listings by grad year on this website do not automatically include all alumni, only those who apply for membership or who were added from grad lists for some years before Privacy Laws came into effect.
  • Support or host Reunions/Events
  • Publish regular electronic Newsletters and emails sent to alumni with current email addresses on file.

We help Vic High and current students

  • Raise & invest funds and bequests to generate annual Awards, Scholarships & Bursaries
  • Raise funds for school amenities and special projects such as school buses & insurance, equipment and archival supplies for Vic High Archives & Museum, stadium & field upgrades, amenities for various school programs, and more

We help preserve Vic High history

  • Fund supplies and furnishings for, and manage the school’s extensive historical collections of records and artifacts in the Vic High Archives & Museum

We began…

  • 1975 the Vic High Centennial multi-day celebrations ‘raised the Black & Gold’ and inspired alumni volunteers to start building the Association. as they organized for Vic High’s 100th Anniversary. We operate pursuant to our Constitution and Bylaws, both updated April 25, 2023, and under the authority of the BC Societies Act.
  • 1989, 2008, 2014 and 2001 we hosted major milestone celebrations
  • 2014, 2016, 2018, 2023, we hosted Black & Gold Dinners, inducting select alumni into the Black & Gold Honour Roll

Please note

Alumni meetings and activities generally follow the school year, so during the summer we operate at reduced capacity and volunteers may not check email accounts as frequently. If something is urgent, contact General Inquiries.

We rely on volunteers and donors

Governance

Our 9-person volunteer Board meets the 3rd Tuesdays, September to May, 4:30 – 6:00 PM at Vic High. Attendance is available via Zoom. Alumni are welcome to attend if pre-registered so membership can be verified and Zoom link sent out. Email General Inquiries to register.

Minutes of meetings – Board, AGM, SGM – are available here.

Volunteers & Donors, A Formidable Team

Our approximately 150 Active Alumni organize class reunions, manage archives collections & special projects, help raise funds, organize events. We can always use more help – check out Volunteer Opportunities.

Hundreds of alumni donors  give what they can – many every year. We’d love your help, too.

Thank you!
