Volunteer Opportunities
A little help goes a long way. Most things take very little time and can be done virtually. We all give what we can and tasks are organized accordingly, so don’t feel obligated to give more than you can. If nothing here catches your eye, contact us and we’ll call you to chat about where your skills and time might be best used. Thanks!
Auditorium Seat Plaque Co-ordinator Processes orders, picks up and installs plaques, photographs plaque and emails photo to alumni who ordered them. Time Needed: average of few hours/month. Everything is done using simple documents and charts you’ll access online. If you live outside Victoria or aren’t able to pick up and install, no problem. Local volunteers can handle that part.
Storytellers If you like gathering and sharing stories – interviews, a little online searching, some archives research (2023 onwards, once Vic High reopens), this is kind of fun. We’ve got the editing volunteers if you think you’re not a ‘writer’, although most of you are better at it than you think!
Time Needed: up to you. Documents, photos, etc., all need to be shared online.
Website Updating If you know something about WordPress or website design, we’d love your help. Updates, ongoing improvements to our site, ideas for presenting all kinds of information about Vic High and its students, past, present and future.
Time Needed: average of 5-10 hours/month.
Techie Types We’ve got a fairly simple weebly website to be converted to WordPress, photo manipulation projects, and more. Project-based.
Time Needed: up to you.
Social Media Co-ordinator We have a Facebook page, a Twitter account, and an Instagram account. We just need someone to post information and help us connect with more alumni.
Time Needed: 1-2 hours/month.
Archives & Museum Volunteers Collections are stored during school upgrades, and we’re creating a searchable database. Summer 2023 we’ll set up the new Archives & Museum spaces at the school. Both these volunteer opportunities are great ways to help and to get to know more about Vic High and its fascinating history. We’re keen to have a team of 8-10 volunteers to help with things like research and answer inquiries, do simple scanning of records, help create rotating displays in the school, interact with alumni and students, prepare/deliver short presentations to students.
Time Needed: 5-10 hours/month, up to you.
Fundraising Team We’re always exploring new ways to generate funds to help the school. If you’re an ideas person, or have some experience or local connections, please get in touch.
Time Needed: up to you.
Event Planners & Helpers Virtual events? In-person events? Occasional larger-scale celebrations are also held to celebrate Vic High milestones.
