Lori Ann Locken, VHS 1974 Gets Involved
Lori Ann has volunteered extensively in her community and her profession over the years, and now turns her attention to the Vic High Alumni and the Vic High Archives and Museum. “I’m researching genealogy for my family,” she says, “and I enjoy learning about the history of my ancestors and the countries where they lived. Working in the Vic High Archives is another way to learn about history, specially Vic High’s.”
Lori Ann was a Gamma girl at Vic High and a member of the Decorations club, and definitely achieved her graduation goal to be a Registered Nurse. “I worked in Obstetrics the majority of my 35 year career,” she says, “and was also a BC Nurses Union Occupational Health and Safety Rep for four years.”
During her nursing career, she also served on the BCNU South Islands executive, and during contract renewals she was the Accounting Rep and Staffing Rep.
For 10 years after she retired, Lori Ann loved taking care of her grandkids and still spends precious time with them as they grow older. She’s volunteered as receptionist at an acupuncture clinic and in municipal elections. From 2004 onwards she was a Vic High Class of 1974 reunion organizer, and still enjoys organizing reunion lunches for classmates.
Lori Ann volunteers Tuesdays in the Vic High Archives and Museum, researching queries, photographing artifacts, giving tours of the Archives, and pitching in wherever help is needed. She is also the Alumni Seat Plaque Rep, processing orders for plaques in the Vic High Auditorium.
Thanks, Lori Ann! We’re grateful for you and all you do.
