1968 – 41st Reunion

Class of ’68

Whoa, the Class of ’68 still remembers how to party – and proved it at our 40+1 Reunion
on the weekend of June 5-6 2009. The Wardroom at CFB Esquimalt was the perfect venue
for  Friday night Welcome Reception, silent and live auctions, buffet dinner and dancing to the wonderful Vic High R&B Band.  A nostalgic Open House was held at the school on Saturday with entertainment by the Vic High Dancers and our very own Attic Boys Band. The day concluded with a well-attended Happy Hour at the Fernwood Inn. The best part of the weekend for everyone was the opportunity to reconnect with old classmates and initiate new friendships.

The Reunion Committee would like to thank everyone who came, contributed, sponsored, danced, laughed, partied, bid at the auction and promised to attend our collective 60th Birthday Party in 2010! We had an enjoyable year planning the Reunion and it was so rewarding to see the weekend unfold with such success. Our heartfelt thanks go to DundeeWealth – Joe D’Aurizio and Joe and Mary Lindo – for being the Event Sponsors. Their sponsorship enabled us to have a first-class reunion that our grads are still raving about.

The 40+1 Reunion was a financial success as well. The event produced a surplus, raising significant funds for the Vic High Alumni Association. In fact, we’re told that no other class reunion has ever raised so much: $5000 was donated to the Alumni Association through the Class of ’68 Sponsorship program, plus $3000 in proceeds from the auction, for a total of $8000! Of course, all funds donated to the Alumni Association will be used to support programs for students at Vic High. The Reunion Committee has also established the “Class of ’68 Fund” which will be put to good use for future reunions, parties and donations. The Class of ’68 is an amazing group of people – thank you so much for your generosity.
