Class of 1955 Loving Their Reunion Lunches

Class of 1955 Loving Their Reunion Lunches

The Class of 1955 is a memorable one. Many of them have created notable successes in their lives – Fenwick Lansdowne, Stew Smith, David Anderson, Earl Large, to name a few. And two of their number have made sizeable donations: Stew Smith continues to financially support the Vic High Astronomy program his initial donation launched, which also resulted in Vic High having the only Astronomy  Viewing Deck in the Victoria region. And Buzz Harrison, now deceased, donated to create the Georgiana (Lim) Harrison Bursary to honour 1955 alumni and (second) wife, Georgina. But their regular reunion lunches are legendary. Irene Harrison is the ‘cheerleader’ behind getting classmates together, and her ongoing support of the Alumni is very much appreciated. She recently let the Alumni know about grants available from the Legion she belongs to – Royal Canadian Legion Britannia #7. The Alumni application was honoured with a $2500 grant to replicate Vic High’s iconic Great War Banner so it can hang in the auditorium every November. (the original banner is now too fragile to be hung annually on the Fernwood side of the building)

Here are a few photos from the most recent reunion lunch of the Class of 1955.

Carolyn Kyle Berets and lifelong friend Georgiana Lim Harrison.

Carolyn Kyle Berets lives in the U.S. and just wanted to ensure we all knew which side she’s on. ‘CANADA IS NOT FOR SALE’ reads her hat.

Their numbers may be dwindling, but their school spirit is stronger than ever! Irene Harrison is 5th from left in the back row.
