1940 – 70th Year Reunion
Grads of 1940 gathered on Wednesday May 19, 2010, at the Uplands Golf Course for their 70th year reunion. It was a perfect setting and a wonderful day. Oh yes ‒ there were canes and walkers and even wheel chairs along with members of the family that came to make sure that Mom and Dad did not take a misstep.
Yes, we have aged over these many years but we still had that desire and love for the old high school that kept calling us back.
Our classmates came from California, Washington State, Ontario, up-Island, Powell River, various parts of the Mainland and the Okanagan area, and of course Greater Victoria. Many others desired to be with us but the travel distance was too forbidding. We brought back memories of those old school days, some things we could not even recall that they had happened but that did not matter ‒ still good for a laugh!
So we talked and brought back memories and soon the years had slipped away once again. A few hours of enjoying each other’s company and the afternoon closed with the singing of the two songs that had become so much a part of our lives way back when, “White Cliffs of Dover” and “We’ll Meet Again.” Will we meet again? There is a suggestion but we will just have to wait and see!
